Don't camp in a corn like a bastard either, for example I kill people and move towards a different location but stick around the same territories because idiots come back for a revenge kill which never fails. Plus if you get hurt near death take if slowly and heal because they made health regeneration very slow in this game.
I prefer steady aim because if they get close to me in knifing range I hipfire spray because I hate getting panic knifed.
Also use either dead slice or steady aim for your third perk. Also I suggest you use a silenced weapon at all times once you got your weapon to level 5 or use a heartbeat if you can't find or sound whore others. If you use hardline with UAV, Predator Missile and Attack Helicopter you'll get a lot of kills although I prefer Assassin over hardline because you immune to UAVs, Advance UAVs, Counter UAVs, and even EMPs. Killstreaks and perk setups are also extremely important and useful. Play domination, TDM, Kill Confirmed etc or even Ground War which can lead to a large number of kills. Find a game mode your good at and keep playing.
